These are collection of my random thoughts in Jan 2021
#1 SMALL HABITS:
Small habits make a lot of difference in our life. 1% good change daily can lead to 37% improvement in your life while 1% bad habit can lead to your doom. Whether saving money or reducing weight, it depends on daily habits of taking out money for financial freedom or working out daily to stay fit and healthy.
#2 Favorite poster – The Man in The Arena
I have a poster in front of my work desk. Whenever I am feeling stressed and agitated, I look at it and think “there always be critics, always be a doer than a talker. Be the man in the arena. After all, no successful person rises to the top by pleasing people. Do the right thing and focus on things that you can control.”
#3 La Familia
Growing up in a joint family played a pivotal role in my life and built a strong foundation of values. After all, those were the most beautiful memories – no responsibilities, no worries, just filled with pure laughter.
#4 Daily Meditation
I am trying to be consistent with daily meditation. It’s one of the simplest things yet challenging. I never thought that sitting for 5 mins with a continuous chain of thoughts flowing through your mind will be a difficult task.
On a side note, I am more focused and calmer due to meditation.
#5 Retirement
My apartment owner’s daughter said an interesting thing – “After 70 years, you need your mind to be sharp and active”. This statement made me think about my parents who are retired. I am glad that papa is keeping busy with gardening and other trivial tasks. It’s important to have purpose in life.
On a side note, “empty mind is the devil’s workshop” – this is applicable to every moment of your life.
#6 Importance of Writing
I love writing but don’t know why I stopped. Well, it’s a combination of procrastination and self-doubt. I would write something and won’t finish it. The pattern continued for a long time.
My recent trip to Mexico gave an opportunity to reflect on my thoughts and gave confidence to overcome my fear – “it doesn’t matter, just keep writing for yourself. You love doing it”.
A lot of interesting things happen every day, we won’t remember all of them . Writing helps to fill the gap and brings clarity in my thoughts.
Someday, I want to tell amazing stories to my grandchildren. Maybe, write a bestseller book.
Remember – “strong ink never faints”.
#7 If there is a will, there is a way
Every impossible triumph has a common thread, strong will. I am working on increasing my will power and focus.
After all, my nana used to say “if there is a will, there is a way. Everything is possible”
#8 Other people’s opinion doesn’t matter
Our life is dictated by society, we constantly worry about other people’s opinion and judgement. Does it really matter? Honestly, I am guilty of it too. It’s hard as we live in society, but I am trying to put my happiness above all.
After all, viva live (one life)
#9 Read more than watch Netflix
I will binge an entire season on Netflix instead of reading books. The weekdays are spent in guilt over non-productive weekend. The next weekend arrives, the cycle continues.
These TV series are useless and addictive. I am still struggling with the urge to control myself, but I am trying to remind myself “I don’t learn or gain any knowledge from Netflix. As if now, I am trying to focus on finishing the remaining 100 pages of the atomic habits”.
#10 Focus and Timer
I have started an experiment where I will set a timer for an hour and focus on finishing only one task within the allocated time. So far, the results are great and has increased my productiveness.
prAts!
P.S. I live in my own world, these are just snippets of zillions of thought in my mind.
