The sea! the sea! the open sea, The blue, the fresh, the ever free!

These word rhymes into my mind, while I am sitting near the beach.

I love the beach. I love the sea. Every time I stand before a beautiful beach, its waves seem to whisper to me: “If you choose the simple things and find joy in nature’s simple treasures, life and living need not be so hard”.

The sound of low and high tides always had a profound effect on me. There is something magical about that swooshing sound. When you listen to it, it’s like listening to opera, you feel calm and everything looks pleasant.

I grew up in Rajasthan, West of India, a land blessed with everything except sea. Since childhood, I have had a fascination to swim in the sea but sadly, due to skin allergy, I could never learn to swim but this fascination never left me. I got a chance to fulfil it when I went to Goa during my sophomore year.

Goa is a place where you can have a vacation, but you can have your own moment as well. The weather was perfect that summer. Blue skies and just the right amount of wind every day. You feel like you blend with nature and I love walking on the beach. It sounds crazy, I know, but the voice of the sea speaks to the soul. I never feel alone when I’m out there. I am sure if there is a heaven, the beach is attached to it because everything seems better at the beach.

It is one of my favourite vacations. All, I did was “rest, relax and reflect”.
