Why ‘2+2=4’ why it can’t be 5 or 6. I asked my mathematics teacher and I got a reply which perturbed me ‘Shut up, don’t you know that you are not supposed to ask questions in the class’
Years passed away, I got into premium engineering college. In one of the many boring classes, I asked ‘Why does Kirchhoff’s law behave in such a manner’ and suddenly the professor who was lost in his own world turned towards me and replied “Shut up, don’t you know that you are not supposed to ask questions in the class”.
Years passed away,
I got placed into premium I.T Company but before my joining date, I had few months break so I decided to join an NGO for disable children where I used to teach maths.
While I was teaching that 2+2=4, Mohit who was a mute (unable to speak) used hand gestures to ask ‘Why’.
Honestly, back then I didn’t know the answer so I replied to him the same answer that I got several years back ‘Shut up, don’t you know that you are not supposed to ask questions in the class’.
It has been over many years, but I still remember the incidence as if it happened today morning.
He moved his fingers right and left continuously (Never)-
He kept his palm straight (Stop).
He drew a big question mark in the air (Questioning).
He replied “Never Stop Questioning”
Till this date, I remember the life lesson taught by 8 years old Mohit.
After all it’s better to “Ask than Assume“.
