When clock strikes 12, my birthday bell rings and one more number is added to my age.
Thinking about my birthday, I can’t believe that I have survived countless earthquakes, tsunami and global warming. #Sarcasm
Once my birthday party gets over, I always end up introspecting my life.
Every year, I make a list of things to do before my next birthday. As custom goes, I will write down list this year too. I will upload it once I make it.
Right now, I am thinking about the most defining moment of my life –
It has to be that Saturday morning of 2008 during my engineering days in Bangalore, It was last day of the month hence I was broke as well as hungry. I had only Rs20 in my pocket. With that precious note, I walked out of my apartment to an affordable south Indian restaurant shiv sagar to eat Idli (sadly, you can only buy Idli for rs20 ~ High inflation). As I was about to enter the restaurant, I saw an old lady standing outside who spoke to me in a language that I couldn’t understand but I could read her body language. She was hungry and wanted to eat something. I was hungry too and didn’t want to let go my twenty rupee note. There was a constant fight between my mind and heart.
When I looked at her, she reminded me of my Nani. My instinct took over, I went inside bought idli for her. When I saw her eating, automatically my stomach got filled. May be magic of kindness but whatever it was I still feel happy thinking about it. It’s been more than 6 years yet her face is still fresh in my mind and her blessing still resonating in my mind.
Surprisingly, a small act of kindness gave me more feeling of accomplishment than my engineering degree.
