My Italy itinerary – 10 days
I had a round trip ticket from Rome.
- Brief overview: Rome – 2.5 days, Naples: Half-day; Pompeii (half-day) and Sorrento (half day); Amalfi (one day); Capri Island (one day); Florence (2 days): Pisa (one day); Venice or Milan (1 day)
- General tips:
- Golden Rule: if you see a gelato shop, then you must eat it. I ate at least 2 gelatos per day. It’s delicious.
- Local transportation (metro) is good.
- The hostels are good.
- No language problem in Rome but southern Italy is a bit difficult. Download google translator.
- A lot of pickpocketing in Rome. Be careful.
- Buy colosseum tickets online to avoid 45 mins of standing in line.
- Veg options available: pizza and pasta. Mostly, Margarita.
- Day 1 (Rome): colosseum, Rome Forum, pantheon and Trevi fountain.
- Start early with Colosseum. I spend half a day there. There is a lot of tour guide going, I will recommend taking one to hear about history. Without the guide, it’s just a structure and will be done within 30 mins with photography sessions.
- Walk to Rome Forum. 5 mins. Spend an hour to see the old structures.
- I had lunch at one of the cafes (can’t remember the name, good food but slow service)
- Go to Pantheon. Spend an hour or so. It closes at 5 pm.
- Walk to Trevis fountain – throw a coin and make a wish here.
- A lot of walking.
- In the evening, I went to the yellow bar close to my hostel. Fun place.

- I had dinner somewhere in the Vatican. Don’t remember the place..
